Testing at Windsor

Students are not allowed to possess or use electronic devices, such as cell phones, smart watches, or smart glasses during any state test. Violating this rule is considered a serious breach of the district's code of conduct and test security.

Consequences of Misconduct include:

  • Test Invalidation: The student’s score will be voided, and they will receive a zero.
  • School Discipline: Classified as a Level III infraction, which may include out-of-school suspension or expulsion.
  • Legal Action: Under S.C. Code Ann. § 59-1-445, breaching test security is a misdemeanor that may result in investigation by SLED, criminal charges, and fines up to $1,000.
  • Police Notification: The school’s School Resource Officer (SRO) will be contacted for any technology violations during testing.

Even possessing an unauthorizeelectronic device in the testing room—without using it—can result in disciplinary action.

How Parents Can Help:

  • Discuss expectations: Remind your child to keep all electronic devices turned off and to follow testing directions. *Excludes devices required for medical monitoring.
  • Plan ahead: Avoid scheduling appointments or family activities during testing times.
  • Be on time: Ensure your child arrives at school promptly; late arrivals must follow specific testing procedures.
  • Stay informed: Review sample test questions and resource materials available on the SCDE website.

Thank you for helping us ensure a smooth and secure testing environment. Together, we can encourage every student to make smart choices and show integrity because when it comes to testing, we know they’re smarter than that.
